What Is a Tip Calculator?
A tip calculator works out gratuity on a restaurant bill — or any service bill — and splits the total between people. You control the tip percentage: 15–20% is the usual range in the US, while tipping customs vary widely around the world.
The calculator reports the tip amount, the total including tip, the per-person share of both, and also shows what each person owes if you round to a convenient amount.
The Formula
If tax is already included in the bill amount, tip on the full amount you enter. If you prefer to tip on the pre-tax subtotal, enter that number instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I tip?
In the US, 15% is customary for standard service, 18–20% for good service, and more for exceptional service. Elsewhere, check local customs — some countries include service in the bill.
How do I calculate a tip?
Multiply the bill by the percentage: a $60 bill with a 20% tip is 60 × 0.20 = $12.
Should I tip on the pre-tax amount?
Many people tip on the pre-tax subtotal. Enter that number if you want to; the calculator works with whatever amount you enter.
How do I split the bill evenly?
Divide the total (bill + tip) by the number of people. The calculator does this for you.
What tip percentage should I use for delivery?
15–20% of the order total is common for food delivery, adjusted for distance and service quality.
