What Is Dividend Yield?
Dividend yield is the annual dividend per share divided by the current share price, expressed as a percentage — the cash return a stock pays relative to its price.
The calculator reports the yield, the annual income from the shares you own, the monthly income, and the yield on cost (based on what you originally paid), which shows how your income has grown relative to your purchase price.
The Formula
Yield moves inversely with price: when a stock's price rises, its yield falls, and vice versa. Yield on cost uses your purchase price instead of the current price.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is dividend yield calculated?
Divide the annual dividend per share by the current share price and multiply by 100.
What is a good dividend yield?
2–4% is common for stable dividend stocks; much higher yields (8%+) often signal elevated risk. Context matters.
What is yield on cost?
The dividend divided by what you originally paid per share — it shows how your income has grown relative to your investment.
Is a high dividend yield always good?
No — a falling share price inflates the yield. Check the company's fundamentals before chasing yield.
Are dividends guaranteed?
No — companies can cut or suspend them at any time.
