What Is a Savings Calculator?
A savings calculator does two jobs: it projects how a balance grows with regular deposits and interest, and it works backwards to find the monthly deposit needed to reach a savings goal by a target date.
The goal mode is the practical one — "how much do I need to save each month for that holiday, car or deposit?"
The Formulas
P is the starting balance, D the monthly deposit, r the monthly interest rate (APY ÷ 12), n the months. The second formula inverts the first.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much will my savings grow?
The calculator projects the balance with your deposits and interest rate — see the year-by-year effect.
How much should I save each month for a goal?
The goal mode solves it: enter the target, time and interest rate, and it returns the monthly deposit.
What is APY?
Annual Percentage Yield — the effective annual rate including compounding. Use it in the rate field.
Should I keep savings in a savings account or invest?
Short-term goals suit savings accounts; long-term goals may suit investing. The calculator models a fixed rate either way.
Does this include taxes on interest?
No — interest is pre-tax. Tax on interest varies by jurisdiction and account type.
