What Is a Pace Calculator?
Pace is how long it takes to cover one unit of distance — minutes per kilometre or per mile — and it is how runners plan training and races. This calculator converts distance and time into pace, and pace into finish time.
Three modes cover the training needs: find pace from distance and time, find finish time from pace and distance, and find distance from pace and time. Results are shown in both km and mile units.
The Formula
Times are converted to seconds for the division, then formatted back to minutes:seconds per unit. Average speed is the distance divided by the time in hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate my running pace?
Divide your time by the distance. A 42-minute 10 km is 4:12 per km.
What is a good 5 km pace for a beginner?
Most beginners run 5 km in 30–40 minutes, roughly 6:00–8:00 per km. Pace is personal — focus on your own progress.
How do I convert min/km to min/mile?
Multiply by 1.609: 5:00 per km is about 8:03 per mile. The calculator shows both.
How do I plan a race finish time?
Pick a target pace and multiply by the race distance. The finish-time mode does exactly this.
What pace is 10 km/h?
10 km/h means each kilometre takes 6 minutes — a 6:00 min/km pace.
